Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is the test performed? Do you offer saliva or oral swab testing?

A: All COVID-19 tests are conducted by our travel care professionals from the convenience and safety of your own vehicle. There is no self-swabbing at our facility. The COVID-19 RT-PCR test for travel is done with a nasopharyngeal swab in order to meet international standards. The COVID-19 rapid antigen test is done with a mid-nasal swab. Based on our equipment protocols, we do not offer saliva or oral swab testing.

Q: What information is included on my test result?

A: RT-PCR and rapid antigen reports for travel include the following information: full name to match travel documentation; date of birth; sample date and time; test device/serial number; assay performed; result (e.g., Negative / Not Detected); and lab details including name, address, and certification.

Q: What if my destination has special forms or other test requirements?

A: Most requirements can be accommodated with no extra charge if you request them in advance. Examples include “Fit to Fly” certificates, original signed/stamped result sheets, etc. If a destination requires your passport number or QR code, we can include that as well.

Q: Do you test children?

A: Yes, we test children of any age with the RT-PCR or antigen tests.

Q: What about corporate, international, and VIP clients?

A: Our reach is global, and our valued corporate partners include Fortune 500 companies, technology firms, production companies, airlines, and international athletics.  Let us provide the personal, real-time service you need to compete. Our boutique, concierge model is also well suited to VIPs such as media and sports personalities who value service with discretion.

Q: Can you do a PCR test for travel to Japan?

A: Yes, TravelBug Health is approved and registered as the Japan Consulate's preferred testing site in Arizona. Our testing meets the strict requirements of the Japanese government, and we process the additional Japan Ministry form required for travel to or transit through Japan.

Q: How accurate are your tests?

A: We use only the most sophisticated testing platforms to ensure the highest accuracy. Our COVID-19 tests are read by an immunofluorescence assay analyzer, instead of by visual interpretation, which further reduces the chance of error. Our COVID-19 testing for travel exceeds the WHO (World Health Organization) standard for international travel of >98% specificity and >85% sensitivity.

Q: Is your facility licensed and accredited? Are your tests approved by the FDA?

A: TravelBug Health is licensed and CLIA certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. All tests we perform have an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) granted by the U.S. FDA.

Q: What if I am vaccinated? Do I still need a test? Will it affect my result?

A: As the globe is opening up to tourism, some destinations allow you to travel without a test if you are fully vaccinated (you have a COVID-19 vaccine series completed at least 14 days prior to travel). Other destinations still require either an RT-PCR or antigen test regardless of vaccination status. A COVID-19 vaccine will not affect your test result and cannot “make you positive.” Our friendly staff is happy to help you navigate these complicated rules when you call to book your appointment.
